    Hi Guys,

I've been looking for a while now for a nice subtle dress watch.

I would like a leather strap and i'm quite liking gold plain faces at the moment!

I came across this watch on misterwatchonline. (See Link below)

Does anyone know if this is a reputable website?

I know very little about watches, Is Sthurling a good make?

My budget is max €300, and as I say, this watch pretty much fits the subtle dress look I'm looking for.

    What do you guys think?

    All opinions appreciated.

    Thanks..:)

Haven't heard of the brand my self. The one thing that jumps out at me is it is quartz based movement and as is the general consensus here, it's not worth paying 3 figures for a quartz watch.

I'm sure if you let us know a price range you want to buy in you'll get some other suggestions based on your current criteria.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm a good bit iffy buying a watch online to be honest. The style in the link above is ideally what I would like, obviously I'm open to silver with black face or whatever. I would definately like a leather strap though.
    Also waterproof would be good.

My budget is pretty maxed at €300.00.

I would much prefer to buy in a shop in Dublin or wherever.

Any suggestions on reputable websites that people have experience would be great though.

Also I'm a bit of a dummy in terms of quartz etc.. What is the alternative to a quartz watch?

Well I don't think you'll find great value in a bricks and mortar shop tbh.

The alternative to quartz is a mechanical watch (spring driven). Sky's the limit pricewise, but at that sort of price range, I'd be inclined to look at Seikos. You can find a lot on amazon.co.uk and the merchants are good (hint: read feedback).

You could try amazon.com, but you risk being raped by customs if buying from a merchant outside the EU.

    Cheers,

I had a nice Seiko (€240.00) picked out in Weirs on Grafton Street, but backed out as it was only splash proof.

Shame all the nice watches in Weirs tend to be a long way off my budget. I Would love to be able to stretch to the €500-€600 mark (or €5,000-€6,000..!!).

    I'll try Amazon.

    Thanks.

Check out Ernest Jones in Liffey Valley and Dundrum. They have lots of Frederique Constant and Maurice Lacroix watches at half price. Some should be in your budget.

I bought this one in Hong Kong for about €275 a year ago:

A little bit tacky for most I'd say, but anyway.. this one is mechanical, swiss made. From what I know of the brand though, the cheaper of their automatics are Chinese made.

It loses about two seconds every 3 or 4 days. I'm not sure how well that accuracy rates overall, but if I was spending more I'd expect better. Also the power reserve is only about 24-28 hours. It's comfortable and light, but the strap joints are very weak. It's a brand without any history and not great durability. But if you like the style and the price then go for it.

google elite deal seeker, click on watches, bookmark it, study it each day if possible, then decide which watch and price range suits you.

recently THEROREMA of Germany were selling watches €600 for €190 on Groupon there was a variety of styles Sorry I didnt jump in myself but I did recognised a good deal when I saw it might be still on worth a look.
Plus you would be helping the German economy to help yourself.

Id say most would be happy with that level of accuracy with any mechanical watch. They wont match even the cheap quartz watches for accuracy. Its all about the craftsmanship and mechanics of a spring driven, balance wheel regulated movement.
