Is there a dealer in Dublin, preferably near city centre or on Luas routes ?

I can order online but would rather have to go back to a shop as opposed to posting if anything fecks up on it.

    Thanks

handtec, while online, is the cheapest place to get a 705. Garmin's customer support is pretty good, so it's not too much of an issue to send it back if it breaks, just ask Blorg, he's dealt with them a few times!

I bought a Garmin for the car in Harvey Normans, can't remember if they did the 705.

Most shops these days seem to just ask you to send warranty stuff directly to the mfr.

The 705 is small enough to pop in a small jiffy bag, so it's not a big deal. You just phone Garmin, get an RMA number and post it in.

Haha yes, I have sent many a GPS back to Garmin. Their warranty/returns procedure is very good and if dealing with a shop you will only delay the return, they will just pack it back to Garmin themselves. Buy online, just make sure you get a warranty which is not _necessarily_ the case if you buy on eBay from a non-Garmin dealer.

Cheers all. Just ordered one from Slane Cycles, same price as Handtech and closer to home.

    Thanks

Was thinking of getting one myself.
I'm a bit confused as there seems to be a few models on offer?

Is the cadence feature extra or does it come as standard?
Would you recommend getting a package that includes maps and if so woud a european map do for ireland or is there a separate one for ireland

    Thanks

    Theres a few options:

The basic model, that is just the unit
The unit with a Heart Rate Sensor
The Unit with Heart Rate Sensor and Cadance Sensor
The Unit with Heart Rate Sensor and Cadance Sensor and Maps
    Etc etc

The sensors are the same across the range, so it allows you to just buy the head unit if you have other ones

There is little point in the 705 if you don't want the maps, the 305 does everything else albeit with less battery life and trip storage. Racer, 305, tourer, 705- in my opinon (unless you are seriousracerwithpowermeter in which case, 705.)

! cracked my screen (my fault) garmin said they would replace it for a fair enough fee, sent off the sensor and got a full set back ( cadence sensor, speed sensor and heart rate sensor.
Happy enough to have spares but open to offers/swap ??

@Rob- may be interested in the cadence if you are letting it go for a silly amount, but I already have three of them and not sure if the unit will handle any more.

Got 705 yesterday, took it for a walk around town today (still waiting on my bike), looks good, like it so far, good investment. At least it will get me home from CSS when I collect my bike. (Hopefully any day now!!).:D

Has anyone any experience with mapping courses on www.mapmyride.com and then downloading them on to the 705 ??

    Is it possible?

    Thanks

It sure is. Create the route, then save it to your profile. Then load it again from "my rides" Then in the drop down menu from "Route" you will see an option to save to your Garmin. Download the TCX file. Import in Training Center. Upload to Garmin. 50 euro please.
