We have a food business in Wicklow.

At the moment we generate 1x1100litre bin of waste per week which goes into landfill.
I want to start recycling as much as possible.
    Our waste contains....
    Food waste
    Glass
    Plastic
    Tin
    Aluminium
    Card/Paper
    We recycle Glass Allready
We recycled cardboard before but found it to expencive.
Has anyone any experience of this.
    What can we do?
Bringing to a Recycling centre is out of the question(nowhere to store items)
So i need a Collection with Different coloured bins??
Is there anyone providing this service in the area at an affordable rate?

    Hi,

I'd start off by suggesting that recycling is quite a long way down the list of desirable options when trying to tackle your waste problem.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Waste_hierarchy.svg

Have you looked at some of the preferred alternatives first? Some of this can be done by yourself, some will mean working with your suppliers, but it'll be more effective than recycling, and cost you a lot less.

What about giving these a shout, they claim to recycle over 70% of the waste they collect.

or give a ring around those listed in the golden pages under waste disposal or recycling to get a good idea of the costs.

Have a look at the SEI website in relation to energy efficiency and renewable energies:

    http://www.sei.ie/Your_Business/

They provide a number of mentoring and advice services that are free, afaik. In terms of water, I'd suggest you contact your local council as they'll be more than happy to help reduce your consumption.

On waste..your local authority will provide a service but they will be in competition with other private companies like Greyhound and Thorntons. I'd suggest you contact your local authority (www.wicklow.ie ?) and also check around the other service providers in your area for their offers. Oh, hey, what about REPAK? www.repak.ie
