XBox live won't authorise my credit card

    Hi folks,

    I'm having problems with adding Microsoft points using my registered credit card which has been used previously to renew my subscription without any difficulty.

    My billing address hasn't changed and the expiry date has not changed since it was last used last November to renew my subscription.

    The error message is: "Your credit card could not be authorized. Please contact your credit card provider, or enter a different credit card."

    I've called tech support and they are to ring me back but I'm just wondering has this happened to anyone else? Does it matter that you haven't bought points in a long time?

    I would recommend you buy MS points or a subscription from a third party instead.

    It's a difficult enough process to get MS to remove your credit card details once they're on Live(there is no option on the Live to do it).
