Reasons to change from a celica to a golf gti?

    Hi everyone

Own a 04 celica vvti (140) bhp 76000miles and have it for a year now.
Never a problem with it at all so iv no complaints at all really.
Like a few of us on here we get bored with our cars after a year and tend to look at other cars. That is what i am at at the moment but i think we are meant to be in a recession now haha and i shouldnt be really looking to change a perfectly good nice looking car, thats what my dad says anyhow and he is right but id love to change to a golf gti and jump up a year so a 05 GTI is what im after now. I havnt asked any garages how much id have to pay but would just like some info from you guys about how much you think id have to pay along with my celica for a 05 GTI and would it be worth it basically?I guess i could have to pay around €5000 and my head says nooo way too much to basically jump up a year.
I suppose the main question here is how much would you be willing to part with to go from a perfectly mint condition 04 celica 1.8vvti(140bhp), leather seats, spoiler, alloys etc.. to a 05 GTI Golf 2.0L (200bhp)??

So guys fire ahead and put me off the idea or make me want it even more!!
    Cheers

    The Golf is:

    quieter
    more comfy
    faster
    bigger inside
    newer

    Iv taught of all them.
Quieter: yea the celica is noisy and dont like that at times.
Faster: yea thats the big advantage and the big draw allright.
Comfy: no i think the celica is very comfy if your the driver or front seat passenger and i dont usually have back seat passengers anyway.
bigger inside: no doesnt really bother me either so dont care about that.
newer: yea a year up and prob less milage thats another small plus..

i always loved the old shape celica , never mad on the newer shape.
the golf is nice sturdy, reliable, but common. now seeing that you like your toyotas why dont you consider a supra? They are a beautiful looking car i know the tax would be a little higher but its 3.o llitre!!!
    sexy beast of a car.

The Mk 4 GTi is a much poorer car in almost every way to the Celica, but the Mk 5 is a different ball game. It's a very good car, but very expensive. I'd imagine you'll struggle to find one within 5k of the price of the Celica. You could consider a 190 Celica for more pace for a little price.
Mint condition twin turbo Supra's almost don't exist. Nearly all of them are really rough or both modified and rough.

Newer design though (AFAIK, not that well up on Celicas). Mk5 GTI is a one of the most highly rated cars of our time, sounds like a good upgrade.

I'd imagine the only advantage of the Golf is that it has 4 seats, and unless your OH has some news for you stick with the Celica.

surely a mk4 with some suspension mods would be close to a mk5 ? Am I the only one that thinks the mk4 is nicer looking that the mk5. Mk5 looks like a shoe.

Prefer a celica to a golf anyday, just a personal preference.

Ok thanks for all replys. I think im gona keep me celica for another while.
Just out of curiosity is any of the other engines in the markV golfs any good/fast??
Anyone have any ideas? maybe the 2.0TDI but I hate the standard looks of the markV golfs, its only the GTI I like..
Oh think ill keep me celica for another while.
I just put 18" new type RS4 alloys on it 2 weeks ago and it looks 100 times better than with the standard alloys and YES some VW/AUDI alloys do fit toyota celicas and look deadly!!
