This is an english pricelist....looking forward to seeing how much extra they look for off us Irish consumers...

The electronics giant Panasonic has already announced that it is bringing out a range of the Freesat+ recorders complete with a Blu-ray option.

The company has confirmed that these new machines will be available from the 20th June this year and will include a couple of choices too.

This range of equipment will allow the user to record HD content direct from their satellite TV provider, which in this case is Freesat and even burn around 50 Gb onto a disc using the Blu-ray option.

The recorders also come with twin Freesat tuners which enable the user to record one programme while watching another on a different channel.

    Prices will be:

DMR-BS850 featuring a 500GB hard drive this will be priced at £999.

DMR-750, with similar spec to the DMR-BS850, but with a 250GB hard drive will be priced at £899.

DMR-XS350, featuring a 250GB hard drive, but will have no HD archiving; this will cost £699.

I'd wonder how much of the programming will be allowed to be burned onto the BD drive.

Isn't there restrictions on the Humax HDR, as to what you can or can't transfer from HDD to a USB pendrive?

Being Freesat branded products, I wonder if any of those Panasonic models will be in Irish stores?

In the case of the Humax PVR, you can circumvent the copy protection on HD material by recording the programmes in non-freesat mode.

In relation to BluRay, BBC suggest that you will be able to make a personal copy:
While the discussion is ongoing, we have made one change which I hope those of you focused on the imminent arrival of blu-ray recorders will welcome. It will now be possible to make a single HD Blu-ray copy of one of our programmes, although not copies of copies. An HD connection to a protected home network will also be possible, although an HD connection to the Internet or portable devices will not work. The diagram below I think sums up the various paths you might want your HD content to take - and the extent to which that will be possible. I should add that the partial unlocking of some paths should also enable the high quality standard definition RGB outputs from some set top boxes.

    of course theyll come down.
