Does anyone know of a website to download your own contracts (buying/selling land in this instance)?
Apologies if this has appeared before, did a search and found nothing.

Don't even consider attempting to buy or sell land using a makeshift contract.

Is there a particular reason? The amount of land/money involved is negligible, neither party wants to give solicitors 4 times the amount that will actually change hands...

Contracts are very very complicated. Clausses, rights of way etc etc. A solicitor here might be able to inform you further but i'd say pay the few bob and get a solicitor.

Wish it was just a few bob.

Is it even the other party's land to sell? A question like that may sound very basic and obvious but without a search you do not know the definitive answer.

Every practice has examples of situations where one or other tried some legal DIY. Some of these lead to very expensive litigation.

If I were being cynical would advise - "go out there, download from the 'net, use a Be your Own Lawyer Book etc etc" - liklihood is that such efforts will generate more work for lawyers.

Assuri - small plots of land may b ecome quite valuable in the future - it is important to get the legalities right.

its something thats easy to mess up which would result in land with unmarketable title or possible cAT/CGT reprecussions from revenue, if you absolutely insist on doing it yourself its much easier if the land is registered
