Microsoft office installer popup

16-04-2009 1:49pm#1I have no idea if this is the right forum. Apologies.
Using IE6, sometimes when I click on a web address, as the site opens, a pop up appears which is attempting to install Microsoft Office (an old version is on this pc). You can close this popup, but another always opens prompting me to insert the application cd. On closing that, an install failed pop up appears, which also has to be closed. This has happened dozens of times, on all kinds of sites.
Im not sure if its a security issue, a glitch with this computer, or something else entirely. Anyone got a clue?*
*Am not heavily technical... would appreciate a luddite friendly response. tks.
