As the title says Im looking for a turbo'd petrol 2 door car, but I've ruled out Skyline/Supra's bcause there 2.5/3.0 and I would like to stick to a 2 litre.

The only one I can think of is the Toyota MR2 GT (Rev 3)
I know theres the Evo's and Scooby's but there 4 door and don't appeal to me as much.
Don't fancy a hatchback either tbh, I've had too many of them,

So can anyone come up with any other 2 door 2 litre turbo car that I havent thought of yet?

    FIAT Coupé turbo?

Does it have to be petrol?

The BMW 123d coupé has a twin turbo generating 204 bhp with a 0-60 of 7.0 secs I think.

How could i forget bout the Silvia's!!:D

Dont like them Saab's....and the Impreza coupe looks wrong without the back doors. As for the Fiat,...well its a Fiat!:p. Didnt know about the S3 it might be worth looking into perhaps.

So it would have to be either the MR2,S15 or S3 then....?

The Scirocco is a nice car as is the Saab above but they are both ruined by driving the front wheels it would put me off both straight away. I just think a car thats sold as a sporty, fun or performance car has to have 4wd or rwd.

Did you look at the Honda Integra Type R DC5? It doesn't have a turbo but then again it has more than enough power for a n/a engine.

    One like this:

    Mercedes C180 SC
    Volvo C70 - 2.0 T

    Celica GT4

    @bazz26:

Yep. Was looking at them alright but I dont like the idea of driving the ring out it to get most of the power from them but they are a lovely looking car.
If it was between the S15 and MR2 which would ye choose and why?

I would definitely go for the S15. They look very well, lots of power its not hard to get more power out of then and I'm not sure when they stopped making the mr2 turbo but I would imagine you would get a much newer Silvia. I haven't actually driven an S15 but I have done a fair bit if driving in an s14a with about 340bhp and it a savage machine so I would say and have heard that the S15 is a lovely drive.

An S15 and an S2000 are the two cars currently on my next car list, wont be changing for a while though.

That Saab is a beaut, on the list of cars to own. That or a Viggen.

How about Draffodx's Type R Integra,it's on Adverts for a steal at €5k.Here87CBD8EF76AC47F9991CEE57D07DEE60-500.jpg

That Prelude is gorgeous aswell for handy money, goddamned recession and unemployment.

Lovely cars but Id like to have a turbo instead of VTEC, to have the power lower in the revs rather than near the redline.

Its a class car alright but the only problem with them is that engine rebuild every 60k.

Thanks to everyone who suggested a motor, Im leaning towards the S15, but they are still savage money! I know I could go second best and go for the S14a but I wouldnt be happy with it, especially when I see an S15 driving past!:(:D

Are these petrol turbo'd cars required to run on premium petrol such as V-Power or is it ok to run them on ordinary Texaco unleaded for example?

peasant.............. genenerally ... super unleadded is only needed for japaneese imports because jap cars are designed to run on there higher octane rated fuel.. having said that any performance car would benifit using supwe unleaded...

As far as i know V power doesnt have a higher octane raiting and super unleadded is hard to get in republic !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 403 ✭✭martydunf

What about a UK Scooby WRX? Would they need to be run on Super unleaded?

that i donk know. . !! but ive a mate runnin a jap impreza sti coupe on standard unleadded for over 60000mls .. never a problem with it... however ... he really treats the car well...

just checked.. v power is listed as having a higher octane rating ... but alot of shell stationes south dont sell it because its costly and only wanted by a limited market.

V-Power in europe is 99ron fuel, in Ireland it is only 95ron with some cleaning agents added to it!

the highest ron petrol we have at the moment is maxol E5 at 99ron.

Do you drive an Evo by any chance? Are you running it Maxol's E5?

It depends on the how the car is mapped. A standard(non modded) car should run on 95 without any problems, I think the ecu is able to adapt to running on the lower octane(with a bit of a loss in power) in the jap imports. The problem with 95 octane arises for cars with custom ecu's(which will not adapt) which are often mapped to run on 97ron or higher because of the power gains and also when turbo cars start making big power from mods knock(detonation) becomes a problem.

If you are buying a standard car you should have no problem, if your a buying a modded one the current owner will be able to advise you on the fuel situation.

In Ireland its E5, boost the octance of the 95ron using toluene(not pointless octance boosters) or get water injection which will allow you to run on 95ron.

i wouldnt even dream of running my evo 5 on 95 ron alone, i had mine remapped by Ai Autosport for 95ron fuel, and along with a few mods here and there it was pushing a safe 350bhp on 95ron.

i sold it before E5 came about but i believe the performance gains are great on it. some cars can retard the ignition to a safe degree but some are not great at it, and i wouldnt trust it 100% imo

a remap is the safe way to go imo
