What we can borrow from other countries

And no I'm not talking loans...

In the comparing Ireland to other countries thread, there was mention of Croatia being into aspects of Irish culture. And someone rightly said that Ireland hasn't really got into other cultures beyond the Anglo-Saxon world. So my question is what kind of things from other non-English speaking countries might be nice/cool/interesting for Ireland to get into?

From my experience in Portugal. I quite like contemporary Portuguese Music. I'm positively ancient for an After-Hoursie but strangely enough for a relative 'auld fellow' I actually like Portuguese Rap, I think the sound of Portuguese really lends itself to rap.

    Ok.....

Not looking to make this another Irish bashing or Irish defending thread.... just interesting type stuff that would expand Ireland's horizons and maybe would result in benefits like ahem 'common sense' ;)

Jaysus I'd think the last thign Ireland needs is to encourage more drink. How about the Californian health conscious ethic ;). not going to happen though is it

We can borrow Scandanavian culture of responsibilty and not the mé féiin entitlement culture here. But that needs balls by the political class to implement.

There's talk that Amsterdam might be shutting down the red light so there might be plenty of unemployed 'working women' shortly 'n all. ;).

Let's keep the bashing element out of the thread plzzzzzzz, we've had enough of all that surely. Let's keep it at least semi-lighthearted.

that's the problem. Anyway I better not go there as I'll just be breaking my own no bashing in this thread stance. ;)

hang on, we still haven't handed back all of the last lot.

We could borrow all of the OAP's from florida. They are non-EU so the HSE would be back in black in no time
