Problem with Sky+ Recording "No Signal"

Got my Thompson Sky+ HD box replaced there about 2 months ago due to programmes not recording. I got the message "No Signal" when I pressed the "I" button on the recordings in Planner. Since then the new box has be reasonably OK. It's a bit noisy at night time but I think that's normal?? BTW the new box is a refurbished Thompson box. Over the past couple of weeks a couple of programmes have failed again due to "No Signal" or "Powercut" even though there was no powercut.
Should I contact Sky again? I've done the usual, plug out the box for a few minutes then back in and disconnected the 2 signal inputs at the back of the box and reconnected them. That was last night after there was no signal on "Input 2" on the Signal Test screen.
If I was to contact Sky to get an engineer out can I request a brand new box or will I only get a refurbished box? I'm a bit wary now of refurbished boxes.

if there is no signal on input 2 there may be a break in the cable.its possible it could be water too.best way to know is to enter sig test screen if input 1 has sig quality(the important one).switch cables around and see if input 1 still has signal quality .this will tell you if both cables are good.signal input 2 quality will only work when input 1 has quality.if it is the box its unlikely sky will give you a new box.they should replace it however.worth a fight if it is under 12 months............hope this helps.

if there is a fault on a refurbished box it is insured for only 3 months so call now and have an engineer come out - let his check the wiring etc as this should all be covered and wont cost you anything within the 3 month period

    Thanks for those replies.
The cables from the dish into the apartment were sitting in water for the past few weeks, there's a problem there with the water going down the drain. I've since moved the two cables out of the water. Could this have caused the problem?
I'll give it another couple of days and see if any programmes fail.
