    Hey folks.

Just wondering what multisampled drum kits people are liking these days?

I'm thinking of expanding my sample collection into more acoustic and "human" territory. A lot of the drum sample things seem really huge, which is cool and all but, I wonder if theres a product or service where one can download smaller collections of samples, or single drum kits that have "only" been sampled on say 8 layers instead of 72 .

I'd like to be able to download like a mini rompler that was dedicated to its own kit (under 100MMB), and have the choice of several of these that I could download pretty handy. Anyone know of such a product? Some of the things like BFD and Superior Drummer seem massive and fussy.

Thanks for any recommendations. By the way, I'm more into jazz/funk than rock.

    Cheers

Hey Womoma, I don't know if the following is what you are looking for but you can download a demo version of Addictive drums here http://www.xlnaudio.com/. The demo is yours forever but is limited in functionality. It comes with a fair load of drum samples but you can get more free ones from here http://www.groovemonkee.com/ to add to it.

Give it a go, it's free.

    Good luck.

    Cheers I'll check that out.

I found something like what I was looking for from SoniVox, but there's not much choice, and it's pricey enough. (http://www.sonivoxmi.com/ for anyone interested)
Still I bought their Yamaha kit to get me started and it's really convenient and sounds ruddy good too.

I think if you buy BFD, you have the option to install a cut down version, with fewer layers like??

Depending on budget here.... I started with the EZ drummer range which is great and easy to use and quite realistic.

I now use Superior 2.0 with the NYC update kits too.... I really cant fault it.

    womoma,
Ezdrums here too. Great and simple.
NDK drums are hosting the old NS7Free kit which is a belter for a freebie (soundfont or sfz if I remember but PLJones on the forum has the files to get them to work in sfzfree sample player). BFD2 has a free downloadable kit that is basic but shows you what it can do. Tasty.
Esoundz have a group buy on at the mo that includes a player and a choice of kits for 99 dollars (ends tomorrow). http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=3784&refcode=DMKITSGB2
The demo files are nice and include I-map settings across the keyboard for some impressive key-drumming. I have a few of their rex files that sound great. They are a great rowd to deal with.
More cash = more programmability and flexibility with mics and rooms though. You may find yourself wanting that later on esp if you buy treated drum samples now and find it too wet for your mixes.
Oh yeah, Battery3 from NI is on special at 99euro at the mo too. Got that a couple of weeks back from Adverts.ie and a few of the acoustic kits are lovely. Percussion is good too.
