Dermot Earley red card.

Dermot Earley recieved a straight red card at the weekend for an alleged headbut incident involving a Meath player.
We in Kildare know of Dermots battle with Cancer in recent past and it great to see him alive and well, let alone kicking football.
Verbals are always going to be used in football to gain an upper hand, whether we like it or not, but surely there is a line that people should not cross.
We can all say a player of his experience and importance to kildare should be able to keep his head and not see red, but there is only so much one can take.
Dermot has an exemplary disciplinary record in the GAA, clear for all to see.
He will more than likely miss the opening round of the championship against Offally in 6 weeks time.
He is involved with the Cadbury u21 Hero selection and is a great ambassador for the sport.

I was at it, Earley deserves it, ridiculous what he was at, didn't know he threw the headbutt but after the free was blown Crawford was going after the ball with his back to Earley in the middle of the field, right beside the Ref and a few other players. Ealey just kept at Crawford, swiped the boot and threw a loose haymaker or two. All while Crawfords trying to get loose and let the free into the forwards. Ridiculous carry on no matter who its from.

Neither team will come within 6 points of Dublin this year, two bad teams.

what is your point here? in all fairness, if he headbutted somebody, he deserves to be suspended for 3 months, no matter who he is. players get abused/roughed up all over the country and most dont react.

i just dont get the point of this post to be honest.

Yeah have to agree I cant see the point of discussion here. I think we all agree. Great player, did somethign wrong, got fair punishment.

meh. Great to see kildare make progress this year at least there is a bit of grit about them. They would be nothign with out Doyle so lets hope he stays injury free.

Sorry but thats real Pat Spillane attitude. Yes Doyle is probably the main player for Kildare, just like Cooper is with Kerry, Bradley is with Derry and Meehan is with Galway. But to suggest that Kildare are still over reliant on Johnny Doyle this year is just plain lazy. John Doyle got yellow against Monaghan and Kildare went on to win the game.

Earley deserved to go if he headbutted Crawford. However if the rumours are true (and let me tell you they are only rumours and nothing else) then Crawford needs to take a long hard look at himself. That alleged sort of abuse is totally uncalled for.

be very careful. best kept to PMs. 99 times out of 100, those rumours are untrue. im putting 2 + 2 together here and getting 5, so im going to assume that everybody else is doing the same just going on what has been hinted here already. id be pretty confident in saying that its not true and was probably just "normal" gaa clashing.

Do not post unsubstantiated rumours here, this is clearly laid out in the charter and will result in a ban.

Just a Quick update on the issue at hands lads, as i said earlier-
Dermot has an exemplary disciplinary record and this has come to the fore as his red card has been reduced to yellow card offence.
Now i'm not going to go into the implications of this, as it was only a Yellow card offence we could have fielded a replacement for him during the game and possibly went on to win the game, i'm not going into that. thats not the issue here.
His name and his excellent reputation has been upheld.
i'm not making any accusations as to what was said to earley, no where in my post did i. i clearly only said there was verbals.
I am not going to post what was said to Earley, nor will i PM what was said, but i will say this.. It was said to him.

And as for you happygoose, you should have gone to specsavers.

Sorry to clarify no warnings were aimed at you specifically they were just general warnings

I think lads with what has happened do we not see the point of the whole thread now?
I think from the reaction of the GAA to the incident, reducing the 8 week ban and the red card to a yellow card offence that the evidence is pretty conclusive.
As i said in the original post, it was an alleged headbut incident. Not a headbut incident.

It was pointing out that Dermot did not commit what he was being chastised and for and the Sledging and Verbals that was beign aimed at him from Nigel Crawford, a fellow "professional" so to speak.

Also whilst Johnny Doyle is a fantastic player, we dont rely on him for scores.. as hopefully you will all get to see come Summer.

    .

no, still no idea. if there was a thread started everytime a player was sent off in the wrong, the GAA forum would have more posts than all the other forums on boards.

    LOL cop yourself on!!

I was at that match too and the ref had a poor game simple as. This was felt the whole way through the game by both Meath and Kildare supporters alike from where I was sitting anyways, though there was a lack of Meath shirts. The red card was an exageration, as were a lot of bad calls throughout the game and Dermot Early got the blunt of it, as did Ronan Sweeney.
Also Johnny Doyle may be the star player for Kildare but in recent matches other players have shown their potential and put the scores up when they were needed, Padraig O'Neill, Eamonn Callaghan, to name but a couple. Apart from that the backs are gettin stronger although they don't put the scores on the board since that appears to be all that gets seen by some people!!!

And rightly so its great news really, get his name back :p

Kildare are back in the running now with Earley and Rollie back, looking good for Kevin O'Neill also so fingers crossed.... Anyone know what the story is with Daryll Flynn and Chalky yet

Wicklow have as much chance of beating Dubli as Kildare:)
Good to see Dermot Early cleared. He has been a great ambassador for the G.A.A. We can only guess what the verbals were like but its a horrible part of the game.

I also think dubs are a bit overrated but lets not forget Wexford. They had a poor National lrague but that will suit them fine. They brought in a lot of young lads and big players got a good rest. Meath will put t up to Dublin big time but I still think Dublin will win Leinster, but only just. Kildare dont appear to have the players just yet to challenge.
