Heineken Cup Final Accom....

Went to the HRC Final last year, we brought a campervan and stayed in a rugby club who were kind enough to allow us to use their facilities!!! Was wondering if anyone is doing anything similar for this year??? Have already got my tickets for the final, struggling to find b&b's/ hotels near edinburgh city so looks like the campervan again..... anyone else having much luck with accomm..????

When you say you are struggling to find B&B's/hotels.....do you mean that as in not many are available, or that they are unreasonable??

On another note......I also have 2 tickets for the final. Not too happy about the fact that the tickets are box office collection only (can only be picked up at the venue, with the relevant credit card). I'm still unsure if I can travel! Gonna have to get on to TM to sort something, as I don't fancy giving out my cc. My current one isn't even the actual one I bought the tickets with. :rolleyes:

Glasgow is only an hour away by train. Also there are lots of short let apartments around Edinburgh that I've used before for 6 nations games. Try st james apartments don't have a link.

I got my tickets back in october i think, and i'm staying in glasgow. It's aboout 50mins on train and this way i get to see two cities for my wee trip

I got accomodation about 3 weeks ago but it was difficult. There are places to be had but it's also a Bank Holiday weekend in the UK so places are very limited. Might be worth emailing a few local rugby clubs and asking them about camping... if they aren't doing it they will be bound to know who is.

There is a few places still available, crazy prices thou!!! mite try the Glasgow thing, sounds alrite..... or just keep with the trusted old campervan!! Looks like the ferry is cheaper option anyway, flight prices have increased dramatically in the last couple of days aswell..!!!

Anecdotal evidence, but apparently at pretty much every HEC final (including Munster ones when demand is high) there are tickets going for pretty much face value around the ground on the day.

We went to the Stade Francais-Toulouse final in 2005 with the campervan. Took the Larne - Stranraer ferry, and stayed in a campsite out in a place called Musselburgh.

Nice spot, about 5 miles east of Edinburgh, and well serviced by the city buses. Myself and the bro were out on the lash for a couple of nights before the final (it was on a Sunday that year), and there was even a NiteLink-type double decker city bus back to the gate of the site running until all hours.

Think this was the place: www.drummohr.org. The rest of the gang are already booked in for this year again.
