I'm thinking of getting the new dual band time capsule to replace my old airport extreme base station.

    Would anyone recommend it?

    Does anyone have it?

It looks really good and I need a new hard drive for backing up my time machine.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Go for it. Its great. Backups can be slow though especially the first one(took me a few days non-stop). Not having to worry about backing up is worth it alone. The fact that its dual band now is an even better reason to get it.

I got one last august. Tried 3 setups:

1 as an extension to my current wi-fi network. It was too slow and the backups kept failing requiring me to restart.
    2. As a replacement for my wi-fi router and for backup. Still very slow PLUS I could not get the auto dhcp to work at all. I had to give static addresses to every device on my network. And then I still had issues.
    3. As a network drive sitting beside my wi-fi router and connected via ethernet cable. Seems to work now and backups are fast enough. One word of warning. If you do get one, do the first backup with a wired connection as doing it on a wireless connection takes too long. I had a fairly new macbook and it was going on 13 hours when I gave up and connected it to the time capsule directly.

So for me it turned out be an overly expensive network drive. Also, try to avoid putting it upstairs as it is very loud when the disk spins up. I have mine sitting on the ground in one of the rooms upstairs and I can hear it all over the house when it spins up.
