Cherbourg (France) question

    Hi all,

Probably a long shot, but here's hoping!

We're sailing to France at the start of May, and will be docking in Cherbourg at almost the exact time of kick-off in the Leinster v Munster game. Does anybody by any chance know of a pub/hotel/anything in Cherbourg that's got Sky Sports where we might have some hope of watching the game?

    All help much appreciated!

No doubt there's an Oirish bar somewhere, but the game will also be covered live on French TV, so you should be able to see it just about anywhere.

The advantage of watching it on French TV is that you won't have to listen to the crap that the Sky commentators spout. :)

I'd make a different guess: Cherbourg is not rugby country, so there would be relatively few interested in the game there.

I suppose there is an Irish pub somewhere, but I cannot remember one. Anyway, it looks to me as if Irish bars do not show much more Irish sport than other bars. They show what their regulars want.

    Cherbourg is not rugby country

    That's for sure:)

Anyways OP, Kilbeggan's is an Irish pub in Cherbourg, it's in the centre of the town and I'd presume they would show the Leinster vs Munster game.

While it isn't rugby country I'd imagine that most bars/cafes will turn on the TV if you ask them to (as long as you buy the odd pint) :)

As Bob said, Kilbeggens is bound to have it on.

I went to Kilbeggens Irish Pub in Cherbourg last weekend to see the hurling final. All they had was French TV with no sky or RTE so we could not watch the match.
About 15 other people came in asking if it was on. Also the people behind the bar had very little English.
Might be laid out like an Irish pub. But it's not one for the Irish IMHO.

its like the majority of irish pubs on the continent then so. Ran by locals for the locals.

If they dont have a website which SPECIFICALLY says GAA shown (which they will if they have made the effort to get it) then you can presume they don't.

Have to say the Connamara Irish Pub in Bordeaux is great. Watched the football final there with a great group of Irish and French.
They even have a GAA club down there.
