Maybe there is hope for Renault yet, after the designs of late....

"Renault has poached former Mazda style boss Laurens van den Acker to replace Patrick le Quément as vice president of design. Le Quément leaves after 22 years with the French company and his successor begins in September (Renault)"

Patrick le Quément takes a lot of stick for recent Renault design when infact most of his " off day " projects were either because of a lack of investment from Renault in new architecture ( Velsatis / Avantime ) or that twonk Carlos Ghosn ( New Twingo / Laguna / Megane ) who is hell bent on turning Renault into a kinda European blando one size fits all Nissan. Ghosn is often credited with turning Nissan around when nobody else could. Well in fairness taking an entire already developed and paid for range of platforms, engines even entire models (i.e Renault vans ) and putting Nissan badges on them is'nt the stuff of great forward thinking but it made money and IMO gave Ghosn far too much sway in Renault. Now himself and Pelata have turned Renault into a big bland producer of boring boxes that core Renault drivers ( a very loyal lot givin the reliability issues over the years ) just dont want. Renault drivers bought them for their comfort and uniqueness but now that all gone and what they are presented with are Re-badged Korean sh**e like the Koleos

Patrick le Quément is a living legend IMO

Yeah, he's well regarded and as far as I know was unhappy with the conservative approach taken by Renault with recent models.
