Im a driving instructor and I have all my outgoings etc done up ona spreadsheet (car tax, advertising, petrol, parking tkts etc) so just need to have an accountant work out how much tax I need to pay. Im guessing its fairly basic so with the whole recession etc how much would I be looking to pay?

if its as simple as you make out then i would say 250- 300 which can also be used as an expense to lower your tax bill.

There isnt really a price - only an hourly rate

If you get a good one i.e. cheap you could get it done for 10-15 an hour (only if you are lucky) But you are talking about 20+ an hour to go into an accountants office

you are self employed then or a sole trader? You need to tot up your income, adjust it for expenses and pay tax on the remainder at the standard rates plus levies, also minus the PAYE tax credit...

all the taxation information you need is on the revenue website

*I am not an accountant however, just offering some opinion based on my experiences

Are you married or single? Do you have any medical expenses, do you pay into a pension. Are you registered as self employed with revenue? Is car only used for purpose of business or used privately also?

Id expect to pay anywhere between €300 to €450 plus VAT, which as a previous person said is a tax deductible expense, in the year of payment.

Deepriver is incorrect in saying deduct PAYE credit, you are not an employee so you therefore dont have a PAYE credit as you dont pay PAYE.

thats what I meant, as in you are not entitled to it

Im single, use the car for personal use too but its a driving school car so primarily a work vehicle. I also worked for 2 months paying PAYE which is why i want an accountant as doing it myself Id leave something out or not claim my full benefits

    Hi,

I paid €250 for an end of year income tax return which included PAYE income & a part time self employed business where he did an income & expenditure account, completed the Form 11, a tax computation and pointed out some tax loopholes that saved me twice his fee. He was worth every penny.

PM me if you would like his details.

    Regards,
