Buddy has a Compaq Presario V3000. Has an odd problem. It will only boot maybe once out of every four attempts. When it doesn't boot, the screen is just blank, nothing happens at all, not a blank. Buddy has a Compaq Presario V3000. Has an odd problem.

Checked around the web and most people reckon it's some problem with the battery. But the problem remains persistent regardless of whether or not the battery is in or out.

So...any ideas?? Thanks in advance
