    Hi Guys,

Had a look through the stickies but couldn't find anything of interest to my question. I'm basicially looking for some good IT agencies in dublin that mainly work on the south side. Ive tried CPL before but i found them a disaster, had to do all the chasing and just found them completely useless. Has also tried RealTime but they are the biggest bunch of cowboys ever.

Any help is muchly appreciated as monster and jobs.ie have gone to the dogs recently. Even if you dont know of any good ones, please let me know of the other bad ones so i know to keep clear and not waste my time with them.

    Hey,

Dublin based agencies wouldn't just cover the South Side, they'd cover wherever the roles are. My advice would be to do a search on irish Jobs or Recruit Ireland for South Dublin jobs to see what comes up. Obviously there will be a lot of redundant information but it should give you an idea of which agencies are primarily Dublin based.

I work for a Dublin based IT agency but I;m not going to say who in case I end up in the name and shame post! :P

Cheers for that, ive been using jobs.ie and the likes quite alot but find it quiet bad as even using the search there still seems to be alot of usless junk in there. I'm just looking for a list of decent agiencies i guess.

You're better off not sticking to specific agencies - alot of companies will only use preferred agencies - so by restricting your agency list you could be excluding alot of potential employers. You're better off trawling all of the job sites and chasing specific roles, not generically getting in touch with an agency who has nothing on their books and will just promise to keep you on their database.

Finding a suitable job anytime takes time and energy and will take even more now, but complaining that you had to do alot of chasing is daft - you're the one looking for a job and it's up to you to sell yourself to both agency and employer.

Get yourself organised - highlight specific roles, make note of each one - contact details etc. , make contact with the agency and get as much info as possible, evaluate whether you're interested or not and then get back in touch with agency, make notes of each and every conversation as well as emails. Be prepared to work hard to get the initial interview, if you do, get as much info about the employer, their systems and setup as possible and do your prep work for each interview.

Interview technique and presentation are everything, not just with the employer but also with the agencies. Remember the agencies have alot of people on their books now so you have to make sure you make a good impression to ensure your cv gets sent out by them.

Last point - I contracted through CPL for a couple of years (not with them currently) and found that they were as good as any other agency in Dublin and better then alot. It all depends on you and the rapport you build up with them.

Try hudsonIT I have used them before successfully. They are based off merrion square.

In this climate there is a very low demand for IT staff from what I can tell. There might be call centre work.

Any job that is advertised is well applied thus companies can be very specific and thorough so be prepared for a battle.

    Anti,
    Have a look at brightwater.ie
I am still looking for employment but they have kept me in the loop with any openings, and not me hounding them.
They have yet to BS me with fake jobs or the like.
