Audi A4 2.0 TFSI

Seems to be very little talk about this car and engine, it is an interesting engine in my view.
-Turbo and supercharged petrol engine with around 208 bhp
-Band C emissions for tax and VRT
    -150 mph top speed

Now I have been looking on carzone for a while and haven't seen a single example of the 2.0 TFSI A4 for 08 or 09. Also I don't think this engine is available in other VAG products. There seems to be a 2.0 TFSI in other models but it seems to have less power and higher emissions.

So has anyone got any futher details? Does anyone own one of these A4s and what's the actual economy like. VW have been producing TFSI models for a while now so hopefully have ironed out any problems in what must be relatively complex engines.

Its not supercharged. It's turbo direct injection.

^^Yes, and they use the same turbo's as the older 1.8t engines, k03/k04 turbos. They respond very well to remapping too :)

:pac: I have a bit of experience with this engine, never normally do this ( was actually the first time I did it really ), but a red 09 Sirocco was acting all flash in Limerick on saturday and we had a little rolling race on the Dublin road just out of the roadabout ( lane each ).Dont know what engine the Sirocco had, but it had 2.0 tfsi ( probably 170bhp ) on the back, anyway he couldn't pull away one bit from my remapped fabia vrs and he was trying :)

I have taken all the vrs badges off my car ( dont like being flasy ) and have a 1.2 badge up, dont think he was impressed :pac:

Fast car though and the engine makes a sweet noise, that and 7 speed dsg would be heaven.

My mistake, I thought it was like a larger version of the engine in the Golf GT. Anyhow, the interest and questions still stand.

The 2.0 tfsi is also used in the Skoda Octavia vRS...possibly a slightly older one than what's in the latest A4. Skoda changed a few years back from the 1.8 180bhp lump. Quoted figures on the RS are 7.3 0-100kph, and around 150mph top speed, but are a little quicker in reality (according to a gps unit). They also are well known on rolling roads to clock up more than the advertised 200bhp. Mine was 215bhp when measured. I've since got a remap, and a few other bits done and am pushing 260bhp.

Yeah still a great engine alright very economical and pokey and very tunable as had been said if you're into that. Remap and a nice exhaust your looking at the plus side of 60 extra horses i think.

Edit/Lol good man flaccus beat me to it.

It might be band C now, but may not have been before very recently. A lot of companies are tweaking their engines over the past year to make them more efficient.
Isn't that basically the same engine in the GTI, Scirocco, Octavia VRS, Passat, TT, and loads more VAG cars?

Who did you get the remap with Flaccus, someone local?

Have you had it dyno'd yet?

260bhp from a Oct'y must be very nice, must drink it though?

Fantastic engine. Drove it in the Q5 - hasnt really caught on in A4 for a couple of reasons

    1. A4 sales are 90% + diesel
    2. Of the 10% petrol sales - paddy irishman tends to go for the 1.8TFSI engine.

There have been a few 2.0TFSI 211 versions sold but you could count them on one hand. Look in the Uk if youre interested.

No other VAG model has this engine yet. New GTi coming in the summer has it.

Surely it's only in the A4 recently then?

It's only in the A4 for the last few months (six maybe?). CO2 is dropping to 149 (from 154) for the saloon from this month's production. This means the estate will now slip into VRT band C as well with 154 CO2. So saloon is now 208 bhp, 0 - 100k in under 7 seconds (6.8?) but 44 mpg - from a petrol! If only they hadn't given the new car such a droopy arse......

    New S4 is interesting too - 333 bhp, 0 - 100k 5.1 sec with 225 CO2 (just slipping into 32% VRT and 1k tax) and 30 mpg.

The tfsi scirocco is the same engine as the gti golf so 200 bhp, and it's a 6 speed dsg box afaik.
