Just wondering what it must be like to be small..... Must be a pain not been able to reach the counter at the pub, or no the flip side it must be easier to get under tables.....

Whats it like been vertically challenged?

They should be, they've got the most awesome sport in the world dedicated to them solely because of their shortarsedness.

    Ingrates! :D

6' 2" here. I rarely meet many people taller than me, but I find it intimidating when I do.
    I just hack the legs.

Being 5'8" I wouldn't know, sometimes I think it'd be cool, not to be a proper dwarf like, just little and dainty. A tiny little Thai barmaid at home (actually she's called Home), used to be able to walk under the bar and had to like reach up over her head to put drinks on the counter.

Dont ever let a midget near a pub.

I was told a great story today actually!
My friend was on a packed bus to Crumlin with his girlfriend and a dwarf got on. Up jumps some young lad and says "here have my seat". Queue the dwarf laying into the poor boy-"what you think just cause I'm small I need to be offered a seat" etc
Then some old dear at the back piped up-"Snow White wouldn't be very happy with you!" :D
Aparently the whole bus was in tears...except the dwarf probably..:(
So maybe not so nice being a "short-arse"

I've started to enjoy it. You get off with so much more, when my boss used to give out and I got bored I'd level my eye's off at his chest level. Pissed him off no end, shame it weren't a she though. Also I can fly ryanair comfy :p

Do you mean dwarves or just shorter than average? I'm quite short, but it's great, you can get away with anything, cuz people just think you're cute. Especially men. :pac: They always help me to reach stuff on the top shelf and things like that.

If people slag me, I just say "I'm not small, I'm fun-size."

"No not that one, the slightly more perverted one to the left..."

Apparently short-arses live longer than tall people. Regular people live til about 70 or 80 but dwarves live until they're 500 years old. Midgets only live until they're 400. The worlds most famous dwarf (Yoda) lived until he was over 800 years old. He would have lived longer except he lost interest in the underlying premise of his own existence.

Well, seeing as I'm a wimmin and 6th isn't we can't really be compared! If you must though, I'd deduce 5'7" as the cut off point based on those posts :pac:

On the plus side I can comfortably fit on the sofa if I need to sleep there for the night following a fight with the OH. :)

On the minus side because I can fit on the sofa I am the one to sleep there for the night following a fight with the OH. :(

Oh yeah, play the wimmin card. When it comes to equal rights in the work place, and stuff like that, there they are, but suddenly when it comes down to the big stuff like comparing heights, there have to be different standards.

    Typical :D

I hate being short. Not a dwarf but Im 5'1'' and there are a load of situations where I would love to be an extra few inches taller:

standing in a crowd at a concert
getting served in the chipper / pub
    changing light bulbs
    climbing ladders
walking through a crowd in a pub / club / football match
trying to look out high windows
in the cinema and someone taller sits in front
reaching high shelves / hangers (having to bring my boyfriend into shops so i can reach the big bras, why do they put them on top??)

    absolutely hate being small

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,462 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

I'm not too small.just reached 5'3 but in a chinese in my area i have to stand on my tippy toes to get my food because the counters too high.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73 ✭✭AvAv

    getting served in the chipper

Major one. Being 5"2 sucks, when a random drunk person comes in beside you and gets served before you do.

Also, having people take your phone, keys, wallet etc; and then raise their arm and say "Jump for it!"

Ensures a swift jab to their ribs. :)

Am i the only one who sees the irony in that?!?!
At 6 foot, I don't have a problem with my height. On the other hand, both of my brothers (one of whom is younger than me) and most of my cousins are 6'2" and more, which makes family stuff a bit annnoying.
