    hey all

right so I'm about half an hour or so away from buying a netbook. I want something small, light, portable that can slip in my bag and get used for all the usual netbooky stuff,

As usual I've spent ages checking the net, reading reviews etc.

I'm looking strongly towards the Samsung NC10. Looks like a nice piece of kit, and the battery life is very appealing.

MSI Wind and the Advent ( i know they are the same ) is also looking like a good prospect, though I know I'll be compromising on battery time with those.

I usually like things to look a bit snazzy too, so I'm leaning towards the Samsung, anyone care to differ?

NC10 - have one, it's brilliant. Great battery life, also like the keyboard which is almost full size making it very easy to type on. Touch pad is a bit small but usable and you can always use a small USB mouse if it drives you mad. Build quality is very good too - can be subjective but it feels right if you know what I mean - not too flimsy but not too heavy either.

    times up !!!

too late for me to suggest a Mac .... but I'm biased (macs are better looking but PCs are cheaper and both do the same job)

the netbook is for travelling, planes and trains. Also for when I'm stuck in hotels etc. I have a work laptop but its slow and........well...........full of work stuff.

I'm in the process of saving properly for a Mac. Haven't decided which yet, as it'll be later in the year when I purchase. Still have to decide though if I'll go for a MacBook or a desktop, both appeal for different reasons.

NC10 it is then by the looks of it. Thanks for the replys lads, I can get a bit anal when purchasing any electronics

probably too late for you now, but the new asus 1000he will be in stock in elara in the next few days - I'm holding out for this over the NC10.

MM you already got my recommendation for a NC10. I'm loving my NC10. Great battery and camera is pretty good for skype.

Was nice and easy setting it up making video calls via skype. Now i can put it on the sitting room table and let my parents see my sister's kids in Australia.

    hey all

just a quick update for you all........

i went up to PC World for a browse and made a purchase

a MacBook for €675, ex display model, but it's perfect and has normal full warranty. pretty good deal i thought seeing as the NC10 was €399. So now I still get my little laptop, but also get all the powah of a Mac. So i'm well chuffed!

yeah its last years model as such. 2.1GHz, 1gig ram, 120 Gb HDD. Bit of RAM off the net to bring it up to 4Gb won't cost huge amounts and it'll be well suitable for my needs.

Having used Windows PC's for years and years and only the very infrequent bit on a Mac, it's taking some getting used to. But it's fun
