Squeaky Windows

On my dads car when the windows are fully up they are making a squeaking sound, like the rubber is rubbing against the window. Has anyone seen or heard of this ? I have searched online and it looks like using a silcone spray / paste is a possible solution, but the BMW owners manual says not to use this. Anyone had the same problem ?

Do a search on ebay for a product called "gummi pflege". Will cost you about a tenner.

I've had the exact same issue on a few cars and this is the only product that solves it! Works brilliantly. What's causing the "rattle" is the felt-like material on the leading edge of the window rubbers rubbing off the metal on the door frame.

Its a well known issue, not just on BMW (I've had it on a VW) and as far as I know BMW actually sell this particular product as a "fix" for it.

    Is it all windows?

The wifes drivers window was at the same thing there for a few months, eventually the window regulator went in it.

    Noooo
WD-40 not suitable at all for this... the problem as I said is the felt-type material on the leading edge of the window frames, which rest against the metal of the door opening. They basically dry out, and you only hear the rattle with the windows closed, because when the window is closed, it forces the window frame tighter against the door opening.

WD-40 is not suitable for lubricating this type of thing, it would make a complete mess of it.
