"Find a job you love doing and you'll never work a day in your life"
What do people think of this statement, given the Recession Session we're having at the mo? I saw a show the other day that said you should do a job you love and money will follow. Is this practical advice?

Yes I think its always sound advice as most people hate their jobs and it affects the rest of your life. I enjoy what I do and I am interested in the field. Others who do the same job as me have no interest - and I wonder why they took this career path. I assume they do too.

If you have a passion, be it Music, Painting, Repairing Cars, Teching, Sport etc etc - if you get to do what you love and get paid for it too - you will put more into it and get more enjoyment out of it - and probably be more successfull.

Just make sure you are going to be able to sustain a decent standard of living.

I think most people will say if you love your job it is best. The reality is however if you get paid really badly it can have a detrimental effect on your life. As you move along in life the chances are you will gain responsibility and a job you love could end up costing you as you live in poverty.

It really depends on how materialistic you are and how seeing what others have may effect you. I have seen people very upset about other people's financial success.

I have been paid very well in a job I didn't like and it was great I got paid very little for a job I liked and it was very though It is hard to say which made me happier.

It is fine to have no money when nobody else does but a lot harder when others do have money. I have seen people end up very miserable for pursuing their dreams and equal unhappy people who never tried.

There really isn't a simple answer but many people end up some place they never planned which doesn't mean they did the wrong thing it is just life.

    Well, it's a half truth.

Not everyone will be able to make money doing what they love.

I think the key is to have balance in your life - doing a job that you might not love but that you like enough, and having it make you enough money/leave you with enough time to do the things you love.

I think this is a no brainer really.
