Sooo I've been trying to connect a laptop to the wifi all morning. It's a newish laptop that has never been connected to the college network before so I've been going through the little book with all the instructions. But when I get as far as where you're supposed to open the browser and it re-directs you to the instructions page... it doesn't re-direct. And I read the troubleshoot thing at the back and it said if it doesn't re-direct, trying going to a site like google.com, and I did... and it still didn't re-direct. My laptop said it's connected to tcdwifi-firststeps like it's supposed to... and I have all the settings set on IE, and Firefox, and Chrome... but it doesn't re-direct for any of them. And when I do the ipconfig/all in the cmd, it has given me a new IP address like 10.3.x.x like it's supposed to.... so I don't understand what could be wrong.

I connected one of my laptops at the start of the year to the network fine... so I don't know what I'm doing wrong this time.

    Any ideas?

That sounds kinda weird.. Provided youve def done everything right.
You could always take it over to ISS. They should get it going for you.

An ip address like that is not a TCD one. That is still inside the walled nac garden.

10.3.x.x is tcdwifi-firststeps. 10.1.x.x is tcdwifi before authentication has been completed. 10.6.x.x is full normal access to tcdwifi.

You only get a 134.226.x.x address on wired machines, or when you connect to compsciWireless.

Hmm never mind... I just turned on my laptop there and for some reason it has re-directed me. I think it's because I was messing around with the IP address and DNS server address settings under 'Internet Protocol properties', and changed them back but the changes only take affect after you restart the computer.

Thanks for the help though
