They seem to be a good dish, but I would doubt the claim that they outperform a 1M.

10E should be OK, but you would need to specify which channels you are after on Thor, as some of the Nordic beams are difficult to receive.

Hi Borgman100 you should have a look at this dish,it has all the brackets to go motorised and comes with a digital satellite receiver. The receiver that has an inbuilt positioner for moving the dish (only problem is one button on the remote control dont work, but because its echostar replacements can easily be bought)its a real bargin for someone looking for a large dish.http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=104834&cat=500

@ apogee - am looking to get a dish that will pick up the canal+ sports channels on 1w and/or the digitalb channels on Eutelsat w2 at 16E.

@20/20 - thanks for the link. i did see this actually but is probably upper extreme for what i hope i need. Thanks anyway and good luck with it.

I have one, i can pick up all the Scandinavian channels (C+ sport etc) even in poor weather. Its quite a heavy dish but my motek 2100 has had no problems moving it in a year now!!!! Im in Maynooth by the way. Digitalb works but not the HD chans

EDIT: if you need me to check specific channels let me know

Thanks M5. Just to confirm, you have the super high gain 85cm Frac Pent dish in Maynooth, and can get the Canal+ sports ok. Not fussed about HD at this stage, but you can also get the supersports channels on digitalb with a good signal?

Thanks again, and sorry to double check...just want to get this right first time!

    Thats right,

    C+ Sport 1/2/extra no problems 75% on a dreambox
C+ Sport HD no problems 75% on a dreambox
Digitalb supersports no problems 70% on a dreambox
    Digitalb supersports HD, No signal!

C+ is watched every saturday at 3pm :-)
    Hope that helps,

    M5

70% signal on a Dreambox is pretty low isnt it ?
On my 500s anything under 70% doesnt get a lock.
My Digitalb Supersports is ~87% .

depends on the receiver, my dm800 works from 60% but never passes 85%, my dm7000 works at 70% but gets up tp 90% off the same dish. cloned dm500s usually get crazy high signal readings, i saw 98% on 28.2 once!

Im using a bog standard 0.2db Thompson quad LNB, im sure that a pretty basic one will work fine. Better ones are of course an option but i have had no problems with my €30 one...

Just out of interest ,why are you using a quad lnb ?
Are you feeding multiple receivers off the motorised dish ?

    I see.
I presume that you can only move the dish from one receiver, the other 2 are slaves ?

you assume correctly... thinking of having a multi lnb setup involved too at some stage....
