Bit of a problem I hope someone can help me with. I have a raised bank at the end of the garden which offers little or no protection against dogs or other unwanteds coming into the garden. I planted some gorse, but the plants were v small and didnt exactly thrive. Im looking for a few suggestions for types of plants plants that I could use to block off the end of the garden without having to resort to a fence of some sort to stop people or straying dogs coming in. Any suggestions would bne much appreciated!

Whitethorn grows fairly quickly and can be bought cheaply from Coillte. About E60 for 100 plants I think (60-90cm high)

i think those prices are for bare root, and it's probably too late in the year to buy bare root now.

me thinks you will need a fence of some sort, barbed wire, plus chicken wire, for the animals, shrub and rambling roses, planted against it, will deal with the humans.
