signs at the show

This might be a stupid question but a friend said something to me about it the other day so I just want to check.

He claimed people aren't allowed bring their own signs into WWE shows and have to buy them inside the venue as any they bring themselves will be taken off them.

I can kind of understand why they might be strict for the recorded shows but it doesn't seem to make as much sense for a tour like this - is this going to be the case for the Dublin shows or will it be alright to bring signs?

The child we're bringing along has made up one or two and we'd like to know if we're wasting our time bringing them with us.

    Thanks,.

I don't think they ban them, they didn't at the shows I was at in 04 and 05.

Just spare a thought for the poor guys behind you though who can't see because of the sign is blocking their view. Especially at a house show where nobody actually gets to see the signs. ;)

Hah, i remember you from years back too! You need to bring the "beards.ie - now yer macho" banner back! :D

My 2 fav signs at shows that ive seen where "Security too my better sign":D
and of course "Make me a sandwich":D:pac:

sometimes they will take the signs off you if they contain messages not appropriate such "wwe sucks" "i would rather be at tna" etc etc, this usually happens during the show though if those said signs get on camera

as far as signs on sale at the show, that is total nonsense, wwe DO NOT make signs for fans

like ShawnRaven said if you do bring signs, remember they won't get on camera (kids don't care anyway) and don't bring huge ones so that people can't see behind them (though this won't be as much a problem in the new O2 compared to the old point where there was too many flat floor seats

After that Unmasking the Magician thing on Sky One years back, there were a lot of follow up programmes that tried to take the fun out of everything They did one (to little acclaim) on wrestling.

There was a claim in it that all signs were viewed going in and the ones deemed not appropriate were taken off the punter, though he was allowed choose a premade banner from a selection! :pac:

In fairness though, Id image there are some people who have been given some. I mean did you ever notice how there's ALWAYS a decent looking one about the superstar who "returned back to action sooner than expected"?!

I didn't see Chrisitan's return, but Id have been surprised if there wasn't one for him and all! :D:pac:

Kind of off topic here, but does anyone know what the crack was with all of the identical, perfectly circular pepsi logos in the crowd during CM's entrance at WM25?

There were tonnes of them

If anyone in front of me is obstructing my view in any way, there will be hell to pay!Seriously though folks, if you're gonna bring signs, don't make them too big and please have some consideration for those sitting behind you before you start waving them like lunatics

Heh, i think he was aware of that and was wondering how come there was so many of the exact same signs. If they were handed out before the show or what?

Security on the way into raw last week asked my mate to unroll his sign so they could see what was on it.

Anyone remember that show that was on once, "Wrestlings biggest secrets, REVEALED!"

I distinctly remember it saying on that, that all the crowd signs were given out beforehand.

And for a few months after that everytime i would see a sign i would ask myself was it true.

Oh how i was misled as a young un.

    *Edit* Here it is:

Such a wretched "documentary", for the want of a better term. It was so OTT, playing on sh*t that would have taken place about six years earlier in WCW around 1993, when it really was an abortion, thanks to the Disney studio tapings that were done. Basically what used to happen was they'd tape about two months worth of shows in one weekend. They'd also scrutinise signs to make sure no spoilers leaked out (eventhough internet was beginning to break through in the US over there and were leaked anyway).

Of course, by the time that piece of crap came out, steps had been taken to ensure stuff like this didn't happen so much. But who'd let that get in the way of such a "revealing tell all documentary"

Needless to say, it got laughed at by every widely known production, Mike Modest, The Pitbulls and Haku were hardly used in the business since then and some people had lost respect for Harley Race, all due to their involvement in it.

My friends were at Mania last week and said that the signs were given out before the show.

This is only a theory, but i always found it strange that cameramen were able to pick what seemed like specific signs out of the crowd instantaniously, usually when a wrestler returned from an absence and there were only a few signs relating to him in the arena. I think they give out certain signs they want seen on tv and note which seat that person is sitting in so that the cameraman will be able to pick them out.... Don't really know if its true but it seems kinda logical to me.

The cameramen dont, the producers do, I saw Marty Miller being directed to point the camera to certain sections during Raw last year by the guy beside him

Thanks to everyone for the replies - he's only a young fella so is extremely excited about going along, want to ensure we can avoid any potential disapointment which is why I asked!

I can assure you all he'll be well warned not to block people's view too and God help anyone who blocks his... I'm not saying that because myself or his dad will do anything but because he's built himself up so much about it he's liable to explode all by himself!

Just thought i'd throw this in here.

Just back from the O2 show. Guy sitting beside me was at Mania 25. He said there was a fan in the crowd that had all the Pepsi signs and he was handing them out. Mystery Solved... for now.. :)
