Music websites and blogs are probably the best place to be looking.

    Places like State.ie, Pitchfork.com, Nialler9.com etc.

Oh and don't hold your breath for that Postal Service album - from what I hear they're not even working on it anymore, it might never materialise.

Wow. That's disappointing about the Postal Service.

Blogs are really your best shot. If you go to the Myspace of the band you're looking for info about they probably have a mailing list you can sign up for which'll tell you about upcoming events/album releases etc.

You could just ask us. :p

Arcade Fire are currently in the process of recording their third album, but in part due to band member's other commitments - Win & Régine scoring a movie, Sarah & Richard are with Bell Orchestre - it'll be the very end of this year/early 2010 at the very least before you see and hear from them again.

Seriously though, blogs are your best shot. Find one that's closest to your tastes, and go with it. Nialler9's a pretty solid all rounder to get started with. It would be kinda cool if we could maintain an ongoing list of notable forthcomers here somewhere, but the job of maintaining it would drive a saint crazy.
