    Hey guys, didn't know where to post this as it's a bit of grey area for me so feel free to move.

    Does anyone know if it's illegal to wear flaktarn in Germany ? I'm asking as I've got a couple of jackets and a water proof rain coat that I'm looking to bring with me to a Festival in Germany. I know it's illegal to wear Irish issue in this country but I'm not sure about Germany. Oh and the stuff I have isn't latest issue, just..em..looks like it if you get me !

    Are you on about Irish DPM or German???

    Irish DPM is technically illegal to wear anywhere unless on duty, or going to/coming from duty.

    German Flecktarn, I couldn't find anything saying it was Illegal to wear in Germany, but you might get some sh1t from them about it.

    Illegal to wear and/or have in your possession unless you've been officially issued it as a member of the DF or RDF

    To be sure contact the German embassy and ask.

    Sorry I'm talking about flecktarn, I was just using the Irish camo as an example.

    I'll give the embassy a try !

    If you mean German issue Flecktarn or a copy then hardly. It's sold as surplus by the authorities. So they're hardly like to arrest you for wearing it.

    Only in Ireland do we have daft outdated rules about stuff like that.:confused:

    To answer your question;

    Hell no, you can wear whatever you like. To avoid misunderstandings however I would suggest not to wear the complete uniform.

    I won't be wearing the full uniform, maybe just a jacket one time, trousers another etc

    Cheers for the help.

    DD, I'm not sure how old your memory is, or if your recent history is up to date, however, rest assured there was and still is, good reason for this ban. Ask anyone wearing it in the course of duty.

    I've let roars at the same kind of people for the same kind of crap. I nearly took a swing at some prat who was sitting on an irish flag on muddy sh1tty ground on St. Patrick's Day. Gave him a b&llocking about it, and with the aid of a friend, folded it properly, the Irish way of folding a flag, handed it back to him, and gave him a serious filthy. I hate that class of people with no respect to uniform of flag. I would be RDF, but a ginormous cock up by the boys in blue of the vetting office meant my form went AWOL, only to return too late to be in before the embargo. Dad was PDF, so I'm not a total Walt.

    Anyhow,

    I think that the wearing of Flektarn pattern DPM is alright in Germany. I can't base it on any legislation, yet, but I'm looking. Hopefully I'll come up with something that ca help.
