The 320 certainly looks the best anyway.
The golf..well, it's a golf. Not much to like apart from the speed.

As for the Altezza, Yes, but not over the 320.

    altezza :

good : built by toyota (very reliable), 210 hp
bad : big reputation with scumbags , 2nd hand ones have a 50/50 chance of being raced to bits, gone now, has been replaced more or less by the IS-F, altezza has a performance boost over the IS200 its based on, but lacks some of the nicer features of the is200 like satnav and a higher trim level

    320 :

good : best looking of the 3 , full trim level and all the gadgets available, not generally a scumbag modded target ,

bad : only 168hp compared to the altezzas 210, premium on bmw official parts and bmw service history could affect the resale value more

    gti :

    good : fast little hatchback , 197hp
bad : often stolen to order, its still a golf

No Type R or Focus ST

If I wanted a fast car, it would be Mazda3 MPS, excpetional value for money and would leave all listed for dust.

Red one from the UK would be class.

all 3 cars are in different leagues imo

    in order of preference :

    1 - BMW 320
    2 - Gti
    3 - Altezza

all depends on what year and trim level your buying OP.
can you post specific links to the cars your considering ie good sale ad examples.

For something reliable I'd suggest the Altezza - try to buy one from an enthusiast owner with a FSH. Engines are bullet proof, but they have been known to go through a Head Gasket or two (that could be driver fault more so than mechanical though).

As already stated, Golfs are quite reliable and reasonably priced, however as they are a popular car they are often stolen to order and shipped to Cyprus. There have been known issues with QC with trim pieces being badly fitted to earlier cars of the latest mark.

The 320 looks the nicest, but being a BMW, getting any extras or options will be at a premium, the same goes for parts and maintenance.

I gather the E92 320i has had some fairly serious engine problems. Not sure whether the OP is referring to the petrol or diesel though, the pic seems to be of a 335i.

Stay away from the altezza they are rubbish to drive and to look at. The gti is fast but a bit boring. The 320 is nice but over proved there is better value in diesel 320. I would rather a ford focus st or a scirocco
