    Hi Folks,

i have been thinking of visiting Seville for a couple of years now and think i might go next month as have holidays coming.

what's the best way to get there? doesn't seem to be a direct flight from dublin.

can you recommend any travel tips for the area - i heard it's a great place by night.

    thanks in advance.

p.s. - will be travelling alone - (if that's ok!!!) haha

Just got back from Seville last night. Flew to Madrid and took the AVE (high-speed train) between the cities. A bit pricey, but there are deals if you book early and have some flexibility. Dig in here: http://www.renfe.es/ (if you don't have Spanish, find a helper who does; the English version of the site gave me trouble).

Lots of interesting stuff to see. My sample of night-life was nice dinners in fairly decent restaurants with Herself. Your targets might differ.

Most of the stuff that would interest typical visitors is walkable from any centrally-located hotel.

Don't miss La Carboneria - best bar in Seville -

We stayed here - http://www.hotelalcantara.net/ - right in the centre of things and very clean and comfortable. Next door is a place that does flamenco shows - well worth a look.

Seville gets very very hot - bring a hat!

Ryanair fly nonstop Dublin-Sevilla from the end of March to the end of October each year.

    Hi,

    thanks for all the tips,

yes saw that ryaniar do a direct flight so have booked with them. i will be going for a week and have already booked a hotel for the first 3 nights in seville.

have any of you travelled around the region -maybe the coast - i saw that malaga is not too far - i wonder what Cadiz and cordoba are like.

about the heat - i've heard that july & august are pretty much unbearable but will be there mid may so hope it won't be too hot then.

    Thanks again.

I'm living in Jerez, just an hour down the road.

Come to Jerez if you like Sherry. Its the home of all the big sherry brands( Tio Pepe, Sandemans, Harveys etc). You can do tours of their factories.

Cadiz is worth a visit. Has a nice old town. Tarifa is a nice beach resort too. Huge beaches packed with water sports enthusiasts. Quite a chilled out place. Nice views across to Africa too.

Yeah Sevilla gets quite hot. Just take a nap from 1-3pm. :)

Its about 2hours on the motorway from Sevilla to Malaga, or if you want something away from the brits /irish that throng Malaga, perhaps take a drive to the beach towns around Huelva or indeed the other towns that view profile mentionedalso on the on the gulf of cadiz.

Theyve got fantastic beaches and seems to be where more Spanish than foreigners head for the holidays. Havent been there for a couple of years myself but from what I can remember it was a lovely part of the world:D

Three years ago I stayed in a nice little 'boutique' hotel called Hotel Amadeus. Great location for sightseeing, really clean, friendly and modern.

Seville is a fantastic city - enjoy!

Hotel Alcantara is a bit basic, but clean and quiet, and right in the middle of the Barrio Santa Cruz, so you can't go wrong with the location - www.hotelalcantara.net .

Seville is a brilliant city. See if you can find the bar La Carboneria - it's on Calle Levies - for some authentic flamenco. It's one of the best bars I've ever been in.
