Branching off from our discussion in the "Dead is Dead" thread, what's everyone favourite/best episode so far this season and why?

I was saying in that thread how this season seems more evened out quality-wise, with most episodes being pretty damn solid if perhaps never mind-blowing. There hasn't been any The Constants this season but no Eggtowns either.

I thought eggtown was pretty decent!

Anyway as I said in the main thread. Dead is dead by far is the best episode imo. The reasons being it mainly involved Ben and Locke my favourite characters and the best actors on the show.

The opening half of the season was a bit patchy, the pacing was a bit all over the place and the end of the Oceanic 6 story arc was very messy. The 4 episode arc in the 70's was good without being spectacular and I think in general that's how I would describe the season

I also I wish we had seen more of Faraday and Desmond. I think they have been criminally underused this year.

I'm finding it very difficult to pick my favourite episode.
It's probably between the life and death of jeremy benthem and dead is dead but i haven't been disappointed by any episode yet.

i'll think about it and pick later... there should be a poll for this thread

Dead is Dead has definitely been my favourite too. I liked the fact that we learned a lot about the mythology of the island, esp Smokey, and seeing Locke lording it over Ben was a joy to behold. I've enjoyed this season much more than either of the last two, but probably have found myself being harsher in 'scoring' the episodes, with Dead is Dead as my first 10 of the year.

I was gonna add a poll but it would have been limited to 10 choices and there's been 12 episodes, and I didn't know what to leave off. :o

For my own favourite, I agree with both of the above, "Dead is Dead". Mostly because of the ending. It had a very satisfying character resolution, something that's been lacking in a lot of the episodes this season.

I actually really liked "316" as well, although that was quite a controversial episode, lol.

They messed up the order of the eps this season though. The O6 getting back in "316" felt like it came out of nowhere. And "Bentham" came too soon and didn't fit with the narrative of the surrounding eps. They should have made us wait to see what happened to Locke, instead of showing us and then having him disappear for 3 episodes. "LaFleur" should have come before both of those eps. Seeing the O6 return from Swayer's perspective first would have been far more effective imo. And Locke's ep should have been pushed back until after "Namaste", or even "Whatever Happened, Happened".

The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham, mainly because of Terry O'Quinn's performance.

One other thing I've been thinking about is that there doesn't seem to be too many jawdropping endings this season compared to previous seasons. The only one that I can recall really leaving me buzzing was Locke getting strangled by Ben. Hopefully there will be a few in the last few episodes.

I would have to say Dead Is Dead.. I couldn't believe the episode showed so much.. never would an episode so frank and revealing on the inner working of the Others have been shown in earlier seasons. A real turning point in the Ben / Locke relationship. Ben episodes never disappoint.

Find it hard to point to one single episode as most have had their good and bad but I'd probably say "316" or "Lefleur". Any epidode that consentrated on the original Losties. Also unlike pretty much everyone here I hated "The Life & Death..." and "Dead is Dead."

Probably Dead is Dead or Some Like it Hoth or LaFleur or Life and Death of ...

Damn :( too many good ones

I usually enjoy Locke or Ben centric episodes , and when the two actors are working together they have a great chemistry , One of the things that makes the series for me , I loved LaFleur too ,just cos it was getting in on the whole 70's thing and also Josh Holloway was amazing in it. As was said I'd say the next episode could be epic too.

that would have been classic!! la fleur definitly before 316 would have been great! and leaving bentham THAT late MIGHT have worked or ppl would have weened interest. but also in the bentham ep it explains John going to the o6 to get them back so maaybe that was actually needed that early.

Yeah heard people say this season has been overall very solid but no outstanding episodes. To be honest, even though I'm enjoying this season, I wouldn't say that it's been consistantly good but neither is it a poor season so far..just not up to par with past series. I guess we can all look forward to the finale, as they're always great :D
