hdmi out laptop to VGA in projector

    Hi all,

Sorry if this has been previously covered, I don't THINK it has (I did a search, and found a few threads about people wanting to go VGA out to hdmi in, but not the other way around).

Basically, I got a new laptop that only has hdmi out (which is a little irritating), and want to connect it to a projector via VGA.

Is there simply a cable that will do this for me? I had a look around a few of the component websites but didn't see anything. And if there is something that will work, how much will it set me back?

    Thanks

I'm not sure, I'd say HDMI to VGA would be expensive than others though! I think there will be a problem geeting one, IIRC HDMI is digital and VGA is analogue!

I'm just curious, which laptop is that?

EDIT: has the projector got any other inputs, like component?

i think radionics have an hdmi in to vga out connector, then buy a vga in femae ,female one end vga ,male vga the other end connector,
or simpy buy a hdmi in to vga in female connector,go to maplins.co.u ,or google radionics irish website google ie,it costs around 7euro.
then pug a standard vga cable into the unit.there near grand canal, rathmines area.

It's the Dell Inspiron Mini 10. It seems the range doesn't come with VGA which is very strange.

The projector also has S-Video in, and the one with the yellow wire from SCART (technical I know!).

The thing is, the laptop will be travelling a fair bit, and connecting to various other projectors, and by far the most common in VGA in, so that's why I specified that one.
