Advice for a Newbie

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any pointers for a complete Newbie? Was looking to buy a decent bike and join a club or something, only I haven't got a clue what to be looking for on either front.

I'm willing to spend up to 800 yo-yo's
I'm fairly fit and cycle everywhere so don't envisage it being something I'll take up only to quit after a couple of months.
I'd like to join club as soon as I'm hooked up with a decent bike so a nice amateur wont-kill-me approach would be cool.

    Appreciate any pointers.

    Spore.

There is a bike for sale in Lidl this week. I heard my bf talking about it, he's big into cycling and thinks this bike is worth about 2k. its selling for 900. definatly worth a look.

Quite possibly worth a look, since AFAIK no-one here has actually seen it or sat on it yet.

Almost certainly not. If it was worth 2k, they'd be selling it for 2k.

@Spore: there are loads of threads on this topic, and the stuff in the wiki/FAQ.
