    Hi,

is there a way to know a car owner's general details by his registration number?

Also, could I trace previous owners this way?

Hope it makes sense... :pac: thanks!

You can trace the car's history. I don't think you can trace owner history.

A car's previous owner's personal details is covered under the data protection act afaik meaning it should not be available in the public domain.

However if the car has a service history (and it should btw imo) you can verify that with the garages who serviced the car by ringing them. I did this with the car I bought 2 weeks ago. Dates, mileage and service/maintenance details should all coralate with what is stamped in the service book.

Unless you're a Garda, or with the M50 toll bridge:D, no there isn't.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

If you own the vehicle you can obtain the previous owners details from VRO in Shannon.

Pay €6 to your local authority and they will give you an extract from their records, which includes nice info like when the car was taxed, not taxed, who owned the car, when it was sold and so forth.

You don't need to own the car either.

On the other hand getting any info from the NCTs is a pain, and the telephone operators start going on about the Data Protection Act (which is misunderstood by 99.999% of people due to it being the most obtuse piece of legislative drafting on the planet).

Or if you have one of the nice old brown log books, all the previous names and addresses will be filled in it.

thanks for that, though I'm not familiar with bureaucracy here and I wouldn't know where to go, though from a quick search in google I've been shown this list that may apply to the case (?):

is that the one you meant? thanks again...
