Rostyle Wheels Repaint / Re-chrome

    Hi Everybody,
I have a set of Rostyle-esque wheels that need both rechroming and repainting. I'd be grateful for any advice anybody could give as regards:

Should I get the whole wheel re-chromed and then paint the inner part black?

    Would that work?

Or is there a way of getting the wheel chromed, while avoiding the part that will be black?

    Cheers

are they the same as Cortina ones? If so cortinacrazy who Im sure is a member on here does a kit for apllying the black bits (vinyl) and very good it is too....

I repainted mine silver and black with a masking kit from the MG Owners Club. Perfect. No chrome.

Unfortunately they're not Rostyle wheels, they're Renault wheels but with the same idea - silver + black - which means that Cortina/MG kits are not likely to be suitable for them.

Corktina - do you reckon I could get them "vinylled" without an individual kit?

    Thanks

doubt it...the kit is made specially for Cortina style wheels....small squares around each cut out.

I presume you mean the wheels that are on the 12 gordini,16TX etc.
I saw a guy selling a specific wheel mask on EBAY france for these.
The one he had was for the 14'' 16TX wheel. He sells these regularly.
Another guy had the mask for the 13''wheel, but he would not take paypal as payment and I did not want to send him the money first,so I left it at that,,,,but that is how they were done originally.
Paint the wheel silver first, then the mask covered the silver and left the black area exposed to paint it

They are indeed those wheels, but I want to chrome them, not paint them silver.

That mask would come in very handy - although I would have thought they would paint it black/grey first, and then silver? Seems a bit more practical, looking at the wheels.

Do you know what words the mask was listed under on ebay? Masque?

    Sorry for the slow reply,
    This is what you need
Go to www.ebay.fr ---then type in Renault Pochoir----then search.

    You should find this
