The English use channels 39,42,45,47,49 and 51.
So far DTT tests have used channels 39,42,45 and 49.
After DSO in Wales we will be able to receive 3 of the 6 multiplexes and possibly HD on 30 with compatible equipment.

Does the Irish DTT signal receive interferance from Preseli?

Around Enniscorthy the Mount Leinster signal just drowns out the Welsh dtt ,when it transmits on any of the same frequencies.
A few weeks ago we lost a few muxes for a day or two.

With The Dso and the Rise in Strenght from Preseli. In August surely the Irish Should try to avoid the Clash. .

Why would we only get 3 of 6 ?

Some might say you would be lucky to receive 3. Afterall UK DTT is not supposed to be receivable over here so sadly Irish DTT will take preferance.

    Preselli before dso
    39 42 45 47 49 51
    after dso
    42 43 45 46 49 50 and 30 for hd
with irish dtt using 42 45 and 49
that leaves 3 multiplexes receivable here and maybe hd mux on 30.

    Preseli (post DSO)
    Mux 1 - BBC A - 43 (20kW)
    Mux 2 - D 3&4 - 46 (20kW)
    Mux A - SDN - 42 (2kW until 2010 then 10kW)
    Mux B - BBC B - 50 (20kW)
    Mux C - Arqiva A - 45 (2kW until 2010 then 10kW)
    Mux D - Arqiva B - 49 (2kW until 2010 then 10kW)

Channel 30 is Mux 7 from Preseli and part of the UK's Digital Dividend and will be auctioned off by Ofcom in due course, it does not have to used by the new Licensee for DTT. This process began with Cardiff (Wenvoe Ch. 30) and Manchester (Winter Hill Ch. 57) in Feb.
The HD Mux will be Mux B/BBC B Ch. 50 from Dec 2009 using the new DVB-T2 standard.

Sorry ,you're right ,channel 50 will be the HD mux.
That still means Irish dtt will use 3 channels that Preseli is broadcasting on.
Will this not cause problems in Wales where Irish dtt has already been reportedly picked up ?

Frequencies are assigned/allocated to countries/regions/transmitters at Regional Radio Conferences, the last one was RRC06 at the ITU in Geneva 2006. At the conference the current DTT frequency plan was agreed between countries (incl. Ireland and UK) within Region 1 (Europe, Africa etc.).
The assigned frequencies, erp, radiation pattern and interference levels are agreed so that do not interfere with other transmitters/countries etc. Following the conference countries may enter into bilateral agreements to amend or change an assignment.
In the case of the Preseli transmitter it broadcasts so as to avoid interference with Irish transmitters and vice-versa. Three years since the conference most of the frequency planning for DTT between the two countries has probably been completed so not much chance of a change in your area.
In future it may be easier to receive the UK channels with a satellite dish.
