    Hi Useful_contacts
The simple answer to your question is No.
If your partner feels that he over paid tax in previous years then he can request a review or P21 from Revenue over the phone for the last four years. This is basically a balancing statement of your partners total Paye income, the tax he paid and the credits that he has. If he has overpaid tax then a refund will issue to him. However he can also have underpaid too but unless the amount is over 400 then revenue will only defer it.
The only way your partner could overpay tax is if his employer is not deducting he tax correctly i.e taking too much from him. However this should not happen as the employer receives details from Revenue on the amount of tax that must be deducted from his wages.
The other way your partner could claim tax back is if there are any credits he may be entitled to. Give revenue a ring on their 1890 phone line and ask them about this.

If too much tax has been deducted from you partner this year then over the next few weeks it should resolve itself as tax is calculated on a cumulative basis (apart from a few exceptions).

    Hope the above helps. :)

i agree and will add that the answer is no, rather than the simple answer.
Ive been full time for the past 2 years nearly and i claimed about a 6months ago (thread on here somewhere on exact details how (simply email your local tax office the PPS number and wait for good news hopefully)

the hopefully i said above should come with a quick word of warning that if your OH has underpaid his tax he *may* end up owing more tax back to the government. Colleagues of mine had under paid between 2 euro and 80 euro and were told that the tax office would not be collecting it "at this time"
