Blackout blinds - roughly how much?

    I'm going to be working nights for the forseeable future starting next Tuesday and depending how I get on with my sleep, I might need to invest in black out blinds.

    Can anyone give me an approximate cost? I presume it's done by square metre?

    get a good pair of flight eye covers: much cheaper:) and are very effective

    what size are the windows in question?

    ready made blinds generally come in sizes at 30cm intervals and can easily be trimmed down to size. i've done several myself, and if you mark out what you're cutting and have a good sharp scissors and a hack saw they'll be grand. Having blinds made to your size is often twice the price of a ready made ones but involves less work.

    I got 11 blackout blinds from www.magicblinds.co.uk for £480 inclusive of shipping. I got them via their eBay shop but you can also deal direct with them.

    Hi,

    I've been working nights now for a few years and my bedroom faces the sun coming up in the morning. Anyway I've found a good big piece of card board does a fantastic job! Not very please looking from outside but sure who cares, you'll be fast asleep. Just put it up against the glass behind the curtains. Job done.

    hi there,

    cheapest way out of it is to go to Michael Guineys where you will get fantastic blackout lining, take this along with your curtains to a dress maker or seamstress, and attach it, think its only 2.99 a metre or something ridiculously cheap! should only cost about 20 quid to attach it to your curtains.

    The sun starts beating into my room at 6am in the summer and it always ends up being the warmest part of my day.I'd love to find a solution for it.

    are you sure you're living in ireland? I dont get sun at 'any' time of the day!!! lol
