Big rubber grommets - where to get

    Hi,

I'm looking for a large rubber grommet for the boot floor of my GT6 - the internal diameter of the hole is 38 mm so the grommet has to finish a bit bigger than that... I've tried every motor factor that I can think of and two UK Triumph specialists with no luck. Does anyone know of a good source (online or otherwise) for such things?

    Thanks in advance

how many do you need? I have some big ones (oo er ;) )but I'll have to check the exact size. They're more "bungs" than grommets, i.e. no hole through them. They're from the floor of an old Polo. Obviously they're used but you could clean them up until you can locate some new ones...

Keoghs off Blessington Street near the old MountJoy motorcycles is a goldmine of automotive bits and pieces dating back to the 70ies worth a try.

You could also try Radionics (www.radionics.ie) - they have a shop in Dublin, but best not to go in with your credit card, you'll empty it in there.

You have a Triumph made in inches. What you are looking for is a 1.5 inch grommet which all of the UK Triumph Suppliers stock. Excellent service here
http://www.ldparts.co.uk type grommet in the search window. I'd be very surprised if you can't get them locally.

Thanks for all the replies - I tried James Paddock and TD Fitchetts with no luck. Fitchetts usually have everything but no luck with this one. Normally, if Fitchetts don't have something, no-one does as many of the Triumph parts suppliers source from them.

I can get grommets up to 1 1/4" everywhere but nothing bigger. As the hole is 1 1/2" in diameter I reckon that I need the grommet to finish 1 5/8" or thereabouts to take care of the overlap.

Thanks for the leads - I've a lot to go on

The grommets are made and measured according to the hole size they fill, so 1.5 inches will give you the required overlap. Peter at LDparts will be happy to advise.

Thanks - there's one on their site that looks like it'll do the job
