Cigars online

I'm wondering if anyone else has had these two experiences in the past six months or so: buying cigars online, and having your credit card drained of large unauthorised amounts of cash?

You need to talk to your bank, and/or the Garda fraud squad.

Have spoken to the bank, and the card's been blocked. They accept that the withdrawals were fraudulent, so presumably I'll get refunded.
What I'm trying to establish is who's the culprit - the cigar people presently seem likliest suspect, but I've no proof as yet.

It's not something you can really investigate. It's up to the bank to do this. As it's a credit card, it's not your money, it's the banks money. So, if they're going to cover you for the fraudulent use, you can't investigate it.

Have you had any luck getting cigars online out of interest?

Very much off topic but a few years ago an American purchased some very fine and expensive cigars which he insured. Over a period of time he smoked one by one until they were all gone. This man then lodged a claim agianst the insurance company stating "the cigars were destroyed in a series of small fires". The insurance company refused to pay out but were forced to do so when the claimant brought them to court. The man actually won his case but his success was short lived when he was successfully prosecuted for arson. True story too
