Hey just getting started with golf, wondering how the hell i go about it. Bought myself a set of starter clubs, but where do i go to now. Is there anywhere that does cheap lessons. Im not looking to become a pro or anything just learn the ropes, how to swing a club and which club to use thats all. Just want to be able to go to a golf course and hit a few balls without looking like a complete and utter moron

    Where are you based?
Your local club might well be organizing a beginner class which will get ye started and finish with going for a round.

Call your nearest (affordable) club and enquire. They'll only be delighted with the business.
Coming into the summer this is a great time to start.

In the meantime, go pitch n' putting.

Of course for all this it helps to have a car or know someone with a car. You'll be fleeced with taxi's otherwise :(

Leopardstown driving range is another option. 50 euro a lesson as far as I remember.

The way I got started was through a work sports & social.
They rang a PGA Pro who came to a driving range and took ten of us for an hour once a week. It might work out at a tenner a head.
So if you do have a s+s push them to organise it. Most driving ranges will have posters advertising lessons and teachers.
