    hey,

I'm doing an engine swap on my mk1 scirocco and I'm looking for some replacment parts and the odd hose and the like but what i really need id a scrap yard that will let me wander around with a measuring tape for a few hours,

anyone know any good ones, anywhere in the country and preferably stocking older cars,

Cheers for any help you can give,

The scrapyard in Kilcock lets you wander once you have an anyway decent reason to - I was looking for a few random pieces for my (very very recent!) Fiat last year and was just told where they dumped the Fiats and shown the door out to the yard. Its mostly modern enough cars, though, the Mk1 there might be a bit old. Worth a look anyway.

most of them just don't stock older cars. I have trouble finding parts for my '93 Corolla in most yards I try. They just say "it's too old".

I reckon with the peak of scrap metal values last year they probably just weighed in any old stuff that was left about and kept the newer stuff for breaking...
