A3 - headlight bulb

I am trying to replace my headlight bulb on a 04 (new model) Audi A3 and my heart is broken!

it's on the drivers side - it's not the full beam bulb - it's the other one, so looking at the front it is the left most bulb.

i've removed the cover at the rear - have unplugged the blown bulb and replaced it. but I just can't get it pushed back into place.

i need the hands of 3 year old or a gynecologist as I am working blind and around a corner.

has anyone any tips/help for me! or do I need to go back to my dealer?

or if anyone can recommend someone around newbridge/naas who would do it - don't mind paying someone who knows what they are doing - just don't want to pay a main dealer!

why do they make it so difficult !!

    thanks.

I sympathise.. my 06 Passat is as bad. The passenger side is alright but whoever the genius was that designed the engine bay decided to place the water bottle directly behind the driver's side headlight :(

Major hassle to get at the bulbs, never mind try and align them correctly.

Are there any plastic covers behind the light you could remove to make access easier?

no there is nothing really that is easily removable.
there is a power steering fluid resevoir just behind it so there is very little wriggle room.

I have a B5.5 passat, the full and dip bulbs are grant actually, it was the parking bulb drove me mad, the indy guys wouldn't touch it either, as they couldn't charge you a fortune for changing a bulb and they would be liable for a costy repair it they break it.

Brought that to halfords and the guys tried and told me, couldn't do it and ask me to let them know how do i eventually get it changed the next time I am there.

So, the only place to go was the dealer, for a parking bulb, I mean seriously, went to MSL near baker's corner, guess what he charged me for it? Just the price of the bulb, change 2 bulbs for a fiver.

I reckon give a go to the dealer, they probably just charge you the bulb as well. Good luck.
