hey, im a 3rd year student nurse in waterford so i dont know a lot about UL or NUIG but it must have some similarities... you will have anatomy and phisiology every year, you will look at pathophysiology of each system and also pharmacology. you will probably have subjects like health promotion, sociology, psychology. we have a subject called nursing as caring which has loads different stuff like culture, suicide, drug abuse and communication techniques things like that. In waterford we have 7 weeks placement in 1st yr, 14 weeks in 2nd yr, 18 weeks in 3rd yr and 3 months in 4th yr which we'll get paid for. sayin that, in these times i doubt if your starting this year that you will be getting paid as much or anything at all! its a lot of hard work and you kinda have to go to all your lectures but if its something you really want to do, you'll be fine.

I think it really depends on the college, in waterford we had about 30 hours a week in first year, about 22 in second year. only about 16-17 hours a week this yr and in 4th yr we only have about 7 weeks of college.
