Focus Variado Compact 2009

    Can anybody give me the pros and cons of the Focus Variado Compact 2009,I am looking at getting it for my first road bike.I am not sure what the Compact element means.

    I am also restricted to buying from Wiggle as I am not good at assembling things and like there 'Ready to Ride' way of selling bikes.

    It's not a bad bike at all... though there is possibly better value out there, as tiagra is an entry level groupset. The compact refers to the chainrings on it, and is what you're looking for

    What size are you looking for? Reason I ask is that I've just got a carbon bike, and so will be putting my focus up for sale. It's a size 56, and I'd be looking for 750ish for it. Focus Variado Expert, with Ultegra groupset (the 2009 version is actually a downgrade), and the wheels updated to Mavic Aksiums.

    Boston posted this over on the lidl bike thread, if this is true and you can stretch to it it seems like a great deal, presumably it's last years model as this years has Sram Rival I think.

    Hi i have last years model with the 105 compact groupset,it is an excellent bike i could not fault the build quailty,it comes in a big box assembled minus the handlebars and they send you a very nice set of allen keys to assemble the handlebars to the frame,now after a year i am getting fitter and have changed the cassette to a 11-23 to give me more top end speed but would love a carbon framed bike but they are crazy money at the minute.
