Is there such a thing as a toddler sleeping too much

Have a friend who has a two year old who seems to sleep a hell of a lot.

He will get up at about 10am most mornings, have at least a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. He goes back to bed at about 7 0'clock in the evening
and sleeps through until 10am again the next morning....

That represents about 14-16 hours sleep in a 24 hr period. Is this too much and should she maybe raise it with the GP. Or, should she count her lucky stars??????

Have any of you any experience of this much sleep. I have had 4 children myself and whilst they were no problems with sleeping, they didn't sleep that much!!!!

It does sound like a lot. No harm in getting the child checked out by the doctor for peace of mind.
