For those familiar with this.. Is there any option to avoid it taking 9hrs for the standard 3 rounds? Or another application even?

Well.. you don't have to wait for it to finish. Just run it overnight.

I did. Woke up this morning and it was only 60% done. :p

(I am re-using the hard drive, so hammers etc (which don't work anyway) are out!)

What erase method have you chosen?

I find that a round or three of PRNG with verify OFF does the trick.

Switching Verify off speeds things up.

V on the keyboard for verify.
    M for method.
    P for PRNG method.
    R for rounds.
    F10 to start erase cycle(s).

Used autonuke which I believe is the DoD short method. I was going for 10 passes on custom, but the time it was going to take was far to long so I passed and tried autonuke which is over 9hrs.

EDIT: Right ill run with quick erase as its just being re-deployed internally. Though, the next PC on the list is being sold on so I guess ill just leave it run the full time.
